I have received all of my family reciepts (I-485,AP,EAD) today from my attorney. Case filed at NSC and got the receipts with LIN numbers. Package reached NSC on Aug 10, '07.

1) Read about how treacherous a path they take when they cross the border. The position they were in their home country is what drives them to risk life to get to a place where they can find a better life and moreover provide a better life to family back at home , whom they may not see even once in few years.
Once you have a fair understanding of their path, in my opinion,you will never compare yourself with them and feel bad about few things that may have gone right for them.
2)The government bringing them to the front of the line is definitely injustice to people who are already there in the queue as well as to those who are going to apply legally in future. They should make sure they don't get precedence over the current applicants and they have to make sure the don't create a block for the future legal applicants.
And none of us should even complain when millions of illegals are suddenly made legal by the Government and they jump the line in front of us for no fault of ours and there are EB3s still waiting from 2001. The illegals have taken a risk right by jumping across the border and staying here illegally???

please read the numbersusa article below. We have do the same thing...inform all members when the Senators/House Representatives field hearing in their cities/towns and volunteers/members can organize to meet them and explain our problems to them.
If it is possible we can show even documentary in the hearing which IV core team is preparing (if nt slideshow is also effective). Please come up with a strategy for this hearing......:)

The link to the contribution page in pappu's post is not working. I want to contribute for the event. Is there any special page through which donations for this event are collected? Or can I just make one time contribution from the home page?

I don't think its much different from what is posted. Only one time contributions are being considered for this event.
I have a shared doc with StarSun and all known ones have been accounted for the above total.
Only one month left to achieve our funding goals.
It does look like there are only a few hundred (~200) willing to actively participate for the good of others. About 0.04 % of all EB2, EB3 filers.
One possible strategy.......
Dividing 50,000 into that, it will be great if you hardworking people, fighting for legal immigrants, can touch about $200-400 each,
while the rest watch from the sidelines and cheer for us :), and also debate & analyze spiritedly.....

Hallo friends, I heard unofficial reports that the reason Dem and certain repub senators are so strongly supporting the cause of ilegal immig is because a huge lobbying group comprised of GC holders + citizens belonging to these groups (hispanics) have promised support to these senators. I therefore have a request to make to our more socially strong members in this group, Please contact our associations/groups and request their support. Mainly areas like CA, Chicago, Texas (dallas), washington etc etc where there are a lot of Indian / other foreign community. Lets get them to talk to their senators for us. And if they dont / are not willing to do that, we should also let them know that this will be anounced publicly to the Indian media / Govt. This is an important obligation on their part to support and raise their voice for us. We are a part of them and if they dont stand for us, we have to point that out publicly. Please somebody take charge of this and see that it happens. We H1b holders strugling for ourselves will not make any difference.

GC comes with a 'sleeve' to keep the card safely. The pouch in the sleeve have special silver lining to prevent 'de-magnetisation' over the period. Please, take due care as its not easy to get replacement.
I was advised so, at SSA. As I was about to put the card in my wallet (Ya, I went to SSA to update my ssn) gentleman at the window interrupted me. I thought I should share this small tip with IVian fella.

it is not to prevent 'de-magnetization' but to prevent rfid communication. All new passport and other govt id 'cards' ship with rfid chip in them which contains encrypted biometrics info. Since rfid info can be read even 10 meters away with right equipment, it is better to put it in a metallic sleeve (creating a Faraday cage) to prevent anyone from sniffing then biometrics info.

No one can realistically claim a moral high ground here - neither EB2 nor EB3. and that includes me too! Each one of us here are looking for self interest, period. No amount of calls to empathy/sympathy/solidarity will change that.
For example, I'll get behind the whole "restore the old overflow logic for EB3" campaign in a heartbeat if we can have a consensus that EB3 will share the resulting overflow with EB3 other workers category too. EB3 other workers category is typically in worse shape than EB3-I so all the arguments presented here for EB3 (length of wait and frustration, unfairness of it all etc.) apply equally or more to the EB3 other workers. Any takers for this proposal?

EB3s of course have every right to run whatever campaign they wish but also accept that it *will* split active IV membership (rare as it is) along those lines vertically. That's why the calls to stick to "common minimum program" of visa re-capture. Only those campaigns that don't have conflict of interests will be able to draw whole IV membership behind them. It's human nature - plain and simple.

I do not think IV is standing alone on this issue. I think that IV is making alliances based on our membership size, funding and reach capabilities. Many times when such alliances may be formed, the other side may not want to be identified in the media. This is particularly true in the current political climate where each side is out to villify the other. I believe that as individuals we should keep creating more awareness among fellow retrogression sufferers and GC applicants alike. I find it amazing that there are so many applicants out there who have not heard about IV. I keep meeting people who suffer from so many retrogression issues and then again they are doing nothing to fight it.
